A smarter future for plastic starts with REUSE

REUSE Foundation is a charity working to develop and support pragmatic solutions that reduce our reliance on single-use plastic and can deliver change at scale

Want to get in touch? Let's talk

Why Are We Doing This?

Single-use plastic packaging causes too much waste and plastic recycling isn't working;
Reuse is the way forward but needs support

Most single-use plastic packaging is for consumer goods, used once and discarded, and recycling can’t deal with it. OECD estimates just 9% of plastic worldwide was recycled in 2019 but plastic production is rising faster than recycling capacity

We simply can’t recycle ourselves out of the plastics crisis. By far the majority of 'recycled' plastic goes to landfill, incineration or leaks into the terrestrial and marine environments

Reuse is the best option for consumer goods, but has been overlooked. REUSE Foundation was established to be a knowledge source about reuse and to fund and promote reuse solutions that can quickly make a large impact on plastic waste

World Economic Forum

"Reuse holds the key to achieving a world free of plastic pollution"

UN Environment Programme

"Studies show that reuse systems provide the highest opportunity to reduce plastic pollution"

Greenpeace

"The #ReuseRevolution is the answer to the plastics crisis"

Our Mission is to scale reuse for consumer goods

We support innovation in reuse, especially in lower income countries, to demonstrate that reuse can work economically at scale

Getting Going

REUSE Foundation is new but is already supporting important projects and work

Introducing REUSE.IQ.png

Check out REUSE.IQ, a global database of reuse practitioners. This free and growing resource categorises circular solutions, giving policy makers and investors a unique lens into this sector. Have a look and give us feedback.

Student Comp Social Post.png

Young people feel deeply about plastic pollution and we’re tapping their frustration with Refill, Not Landfill!, a campaign for students, by students. It’ll launch soon, so watch out for novel and creative posts hitting your socials!

RF Newsletter.jpeg

Reuse is changing fast! We help companies and professionals track reuse with a monthly newsletter. See past issues, sign up to stay in touch and learn about key developments in reuse and plastic abatement generally.

Stop 1 Billion Bottles_edited.jpg

Where Now for Plastic Packaging - Cover.jpg

We help partners shift to reuse by identifying emerging opportunities and and case studies of notable innovations. We also provide deep dives with market and trend analysis. Read our latest report on plastic packaging.

Reuse is new to many communities. We fund outreach to educate and explain its benefits. In lower income communities we have the chance to introduce reuse before use-and-dispose habits are ingrained.

2025 Practitioners Survey Report Cover.jpg

See results of the first-ever global survey of reuse practitioners. These innovators and entrepreneurs are at the cutting edge of preventing plastic packaging waste, but little is known about them. Our survey starts to build a knowledge base.
